Odin Bike Company
Branding – Environmental Design – Package Design – Illustration
Odin Bike Co. creates electric bicycle-motorcycle hybrids. The goal of this piece was to create a logo and branding for the company. The ability for this hybrid to switch between a bicycle and motorcycle creates a unique concept and product, leading to very little competition. Their bikes are designed to appeal to those interested in cutting down their personal carbon emissions as well as those interested in motorcycling or cycling; because of this the demographic is large, but focuses primarily on the “hipster” market: all genders, ages 20-35, middle- to upper-class.
The company logo, branding, and environmental design focuses entirely on the principle of forging an adventurous and environmentally conscious community of individuals. The logo offers a stylization of Odin, with a lightning bolt over the eye that he was said to have sacrificed for wisdom. This alludes to both the intelligent and electric nature of OBC’s vehicles. The brand colors are black and white to appeal to simplicity and the company’s branding aesthetic.
A community-focused brand demands a similarly focused architecture, meaning brick-and-mortar locations for dealerships need to be more than a place where people buy the product. The interior is sectioned into two parts: a showroom and a coffee shop. The showroom has comfortable couches and friendly sales associates ready to explain any components or functionalities of the bike. The coffee shop has plenty of seating for meeting with friends and new people alike. It serves Odin Bike Cafe brand coffee, a sub-brand of the Odin Bike Company, which is made with a blend of Hawaiian Kona beans and can be purchased from the barista. The showroom exterior has outside access to seating where patrons can enjoy coffee and conversations with others in pleasant weather.

Branding Design
This process of creating the brand for a company in such a saturated market involved considering what kinds of people didn’t yet use electric bicycles that would still be viable consumers. I decided to target people that enjoyed the cooler aesthetic of riding a motorcycle and thought that being environmentally friendly had to be boring (i.e. riding a regular bicycle).
I decided on Odin Bike Company not because he was the Norse god of thunder, but because he was the father of the god of thunder, lightning, and storms. The all-father seemed to be an appropriate and powerful fit for the brand. The motto Forged with Power. Driven by Excellence. was created to reflect the company’s dedication to a powerful, fun, and detail-focused brand that creates nothing but quality machines.

Sub Brand Logo
This logo belongs to the coffee shop sub-brand that is in every dealership location.
Environmental Design
The store’s aesthetic was designed with community in mind. The outside has access to outside seating where patrons can enjoy their coffee and conversations with others in pleasant weather. The interior is sectioned into two parts: the showroom and the coffee shop. In the showroom, there are comfortable couches and friendly sales associates that are willing to explain any components or functionalities of the bike to a customer. The coffee shop has plenty of seating, and serves Odin Bike Cafe brand coffee, an offshoot of the Odin Bike Company, which is made with a blend of Hawaiian Kona beans. Customers can purchase bags of coffee beans from the barista as well.

Three variants of coffee were designed: a light, medium, and dark roast. Each are named after either people or weapons from Norse mythology. All cups of coffee sold at the shop come in branded paper cups.
